ANDREA Pirlo is confident that Italy can enjoy a strong FIFA Confederations Cup campaign, and is delighted to have reached 100 caps.
The Juventus playmaker reached a century of international appearances against Mexico in their tournament opener on Sunday.
Italy confounded expectations to reach the final of UEFA Euro 2012, although they were comfortably beaten 4-0 by Spain, who are in Group B of the tournament in Brazil.
With Italy likely to return to South America for the FIFA World Cup in a year's time, Pirlo is keen to lay down a marker.
He said: "Our goal in the Confederations Cup, as always in these important competitions, is to play well and try and reach as far as we can.
"We know we have what it takes to try and make it, and that's why we're ready to start the competition."
