RUSSIA striker Pavel Pogrebnyak's hopes of appearing at Euro 2008 hang in the balance after he was flown to Munich for further scans on a knee injury.
The 24-year-old suffered the injury in a 2-1 friendly win against Serbia last week.
Pogrebnyak had already scored from a free-kick in the international friendly and his attacking threat would be missed by coach Guus Hiddink should the Zenit St Petersburg frontman be ruled out of the finals in Austria and Switzerland.
Pogrebnyak told UEFA's official website: "My knee is aching a bit but I feel better now. I am recovering and working hard and I want to play at the European Championship very much."
Pogrebnyak was the joint top-scorer in the UEFA Cup, with 10 goals as Zenit lifted their first European title although he missed his side's 2-0 victory against Rangers in the final due to suspension.
Russia begin their Euro 2008 campaign against Spain on June 10.
