Asian Champions League holders Pohang Steelers have fired coach Waldermar Lemos after a series of bad results that have left the club languishing at the bottom of the K-League.
The decision comes as the Brazilian was preparing his team for Wednesday's Asian Champions League second-round match against Kashima Antlers - a team coincidentally coached by his brother Oswaldo Oliveira.
Saturday's 5-2 home defeat at the hands of Jeju United was the sixth loss in eight matches and saw the Steelers slip down to 12th place, just two points above bottom club Suwon Bluewings.
Lemos succeeded compatriot Sergio Farias in January.
"The club will do its best to make the team better during the FIFA World Cup break and try to bring fans back to the stadium with fine performances," Pohang said in a statement on the Asian Football Confederation's official website.
Assistant coach Park Chang-hyun will take control of the team for the Kashima clash and the club will search for a long-term solution during the summer break.
