Scolari was hit with a two-month ban on appeal by UEFA last week after being seen to aim a punch at Serbia defender Ivica Dragutinovic during a heated confrontation following the Group A match in Lisbon on September 12, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

The 58-year-old will be banned from taking charge of Portugal for Euro 2008 qualifiers against Azerbaijan on Saturday and against Kazakhstan four days later.

The board of the FPF has already discussed Scolari's actions and it remains to be seen what punishment - if any - will be handed down at the meeting that comes just two days after the Kazakhstan match.

FPF chairman Gilberto Madail said: "It will be just a meeting between the employer and employee, nothing else.

"It will not be my personal decision, given our board contains nine other members, and all of us will be heard on it."

Madail added: "Of course, that is an unpleasant situation, for both us and him. But we have a great kindness for Scolari, which is important.

"We are hurt by this situation, but we have to raise our heads and carry on.

"UEFA has already acted, now it will be our turn."

Madail dismissed suggestions that any decision on Scolari's future will be conditional on the results of the games against Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.

"We will work only on the issue," he added. "No measure will be taken according to the results against Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.

"There will be a measure, but nothing related to results."

Scolari's UEFA suspension will also see him miss Portugal's penultimate Group A game against Armenia on November 17.

Assistant coach Flavio Murtosa will lead the team in Scolari's absence.
