Football Federation Victoria has classified all of Southern Stars Football Club's fixtures as no results, after players in the Dingley-based team were arrested for match-fixing offences.
 
The Stars had accrued seven points up until the weekend, when reports emerged of 10 arrests - nine players and a coach - from the VPL cellar-dwellers.
 
Due to the prospective 'no result' on all Stars matches, all points gained in fixtures against them have now been annulled which has consequences on the make-up of the standings.
 
Given league leaders Northcote City lost to the Stars during the season, they have now won the league title due to only being docked three points as opposed to second-placed Melbourne Knights - who beat Stars twice - losing six.
 
Knights are now unable to vie for the title this weekend, when they were due to meet the Oakleigh Cannons with just one point to make up on City.
 
But City's lead is now four points with only one match to play.
 
Each of South Melbourne, Richmond, Oakleigh and the Dandenong Thunder were all docked four points instead of six, as they all had one win and a draw against Stars.
 
Souths - who were one point inside the final five - are now three points clear of Green Gully, although the latter has a game in hand.
 
Port Melbourne cannot climb any higher than their current fourth place, as Bentleigh have a four-point buffer on them in third.
 
Bentleigh will not be playing for points when they meet Stars in the final home-and-away match this weekend.
 
There is renewed hope for Richmond, who required two wins and a Pascoe Vale loss - plus a 10-goal turn around in differential - to escape relegation.
 
Now they trail Pascoe Vale in 10th by four points, and just seven goals in differential. Richmond host Dandenong Thunder (ninth) on Wednesday, before a potential relegation playoff against Pascoe Vale on the last day of the season.
