AFC Asian Cup hosts Qatar claimed an impressive 2-1 win against African champions Egypt in an international friendly match held at the Khalifa Stadium in Doha.
Qatar, who were drawn in Group A of the Asian Cup along with Uzbekistan, China and Kuwait, took the lead after 21 minutes when Mohamad Al Sayed sent in a cross which Sebastian Soria turned into the net.
The hosts doubled their advantage one minute before the break when Egypt defender Wael Goma scored an own goal after a misunderstanding with his goalkeeper Abdulwahad Al Sayed.
Egypt pulled a goal back on 73 minutes when substitute Ahmed Eid played a neat pass to Walid Sulaiman who scored to make it 2-1.
The two teams finished the game with 10 men as Ahmed Fathi of Egypt and Qatar'sFabio Cesar were sent off after a quarrel between the two players.
