The R's travel to Cardiff knowing a win would secure a return to the top flight, subject to them avoiding a points deduction over a possible breach of player ownership regulations.

With four games left, Neil Warnock's side hold an eight-point advantage over Cardiff, who dropped to third behind Norwich after the Canaries thrashed Ipswich 5-1 last night.

Midfielder Adel Taarabt said on the club's website: "As a player, these are the types of games that you want to play in.

"It's on TV, it's first against (third), and it's going to be a big game. I expect it to be an open game. Every team we have left to play needs to win.

"I don't think they are going to defend, they need to score goals."

Hull remain in the hunt for a play-off place as Middlesbrough visit the KC Stadium.

They claimed a draw with fellow challengers Swansea last time out and Jay Simpson believes confidence is high in the squad.

"We were really attack-minded (against Swansea) and that suits me more," he said.

"I think that showed in the way the team performed and everybody enjoyed that match. It sets us up well for the game against Middlesbrough."

Burnley also still have a strong chance as they are level with Hull going into a trip to Derby.

Burnley have recorded back-to-back wins to move into contention late in the season.

"You might only get one chance to get promotion to the Premier League and I want to do that here," defender Danny Fox said.
