Iain Ramsay says the Philippines should have sneaked a win in their AFF Suzuki Cup clash with Indonesia which finished 2-2.
The Philippines came from a goal down twice to tie with the Indonesians in Bocaue. Fachrudin Aryanto had opened the scoring for Garuda before Misagh Bahadoran equalised for the Azkals.
Boaz Solassa put Indonesia ahead 2-1 in the 68th minute but then Phil Younghusband scored with a free-kick for the Filipinos to snatch a point.
Aussie Ramsay came off the bench in the 55th minute for the Philippines. The winger told FourFourTwo the match was there to be won.
"I think we should of pinched it at the end," he said.
"But it was very end to end. We showed a lot of fight. We really should have got a result. We need a result against Thailand now."
The Azkals are now second in Group A, behind Thailand and above Indonesia and Singapore. The Phillipines drew 0-0 with Singapore in their first match.
They face the Thais next and a win will put them through to the semi-finals. Ramsay said he watched the War Elephants' recent 2-2 World Cup qualifying draw with the Socceroos closely.
"We are stting second in our group, if we win we don't have to rely on other games if we draw," he said.
"Thailand looked fatigued. It would be nice to get one over them that's for sure."
Ramsay was born and raised in Australia but qualifies for the Philippines through his mother. The former Melbourne City and Adelaide United man debuted for the Azkals last year.
Ramsay is currently clubless after departing Persian Gulf Pro League team Tractor Sazi in May. The 28-year old said he is still on the lookout for a new club.
"I was close on one occasion to agreeing to one offer, but a lot depends now on where I can take my family," he said.
"I have a little one now ideally I want to go where I'm with them."
