Top strike duo Nathan Burns and Bruce Djite - who recently revealed they fancy themselves as the new Batman and Robin - are out through injury and Olyroos duty.

Kristian Sarkies is also on Olyroo call, while Paul Agostino and Bobby Petta are both out injured too.

Now Giraldi, 21, is set for only his second appearance in the A-League in the finely balanced grand final rematch.

"He’s been unlucky in terms of having injuries since he’s been here and I just hope this could be the turning point for him,” Adelaide coach Aurelio Vidmar said today.

The game will also give current back-up players like Jason Spagnuolo and Shaun Ontong a chance to shine.

“When we came into the season we knew the Olyroo boys would be away but it’s no drama," said Vidmar.

"We’ve got players who haven’t played for quite awhile who would be loving the opportunity so I think they will go in giving themselves a show of putting on a good performance.

“The guys coming in are enthusiastic and if they go into the game with a positive mindset, they’re a chance of playing well and that’s what we’re looking for.”

Vidmar will also be looking for an improved performance across the board from last week, where United managed a draw against Perth Glory despite struggling to find their rhythm.

“When I see the games we produced in the first six rounds and what we produced against Perth Glory last Sunday was chalk and cheese," he said.

"I think we can expect and demand those sorts of performances that we’ve shown in the first six weeks, last week everything went pear shaped for us so we need to get back to what we’ve been doing.”
