Redknapp made 10 changes to the team that defeated Wolves 2-0 in the English Premier League on Saturday, and they could not get the win in their group stage opener in Greece.

Youngsters Jake Livermore, Harry Kane, Tom Carroll and debutant Yago Falque all started the Group A match at the Toumba Stadium.

And their manager was impressed, as a team with an average age of 23 survived to claim a point.

"I was pleased with performance, particularly in the first half. We kept the ball well," Redknapp said.

"That was an intimidating atmosphere out there tonight. It was fantastic. You don't get that in many places in the world."

"The fans were incredible and they get behind their team."

"The young players have never seen that before and it must have been a difficult experience for them, but I thought they coped very well."

Redknapp singled out 19-year-old Carroll, who made his senior first appearance against Hearts in the last round, for special mention.

"I thought young Tom Carroll did well in midfield," he said.

"He's only a slight little boy but he's a lovely footballer - he works hard and has a great attitude. But they all did well."

And according to Redknapp, Spurs should have been awarded a penalty when Kane was tackled inside the box during the first half.

The referee deemed Kane to have dived and booked the 18-year-old forward for simulation.

"I thought it was a penalty. I've seen a replay. It was a foul," Redknapp said.

"He (Kane) wouldn't go down (intentionally) - it was very harsh to book him. It was a penalty."

Tottenham trail Rubin Kazan by two points in the group, with their next fixture at home to Irish club Shamrock Rovers on September 29.
