RETURNING Adelaide coach John Kosmina could not have scripted Friday night's clash with Phoenix any better as the Reds took all three points at Hindmarsh and kept a clean sheet.
The result marks a new beginning for Adelaide which recorded their first win since November thanks to goals from Bruce Djite and young defender Antony Golec who scored on his starting debut.
Kosmina was delighted his side took on board what they worked on in the fortnight since his reappointment and got a taste of that winning feeling again.
"The team hasn't had a clean sheet for awhile," Kosmina said in his post match interview.
"I've had one out of two so I'm pretty happy about that, but it was a good performance.
"Once we found our feet we started to knock the ball around, we made good opportunities and that's what we've talked about during the week - how do we get goals, we need to get behind people, we need to get crosses in, we need to get Bruce and Serge in the box.
"Wellington are a good side and they put us under a bit of pressure and we scrambled a bit at times but I think we adjusted up and responded quite well.
"Results maybe don't come your way sometimes but it's about how you play and I think (this) was a big improvement on what happened in Sydney last week and we've got a tough game against Melbourne Heart next Wednesday and if we can continue to try and improve our play, then the results will eventually come."
