Adelaide United goalkeepers Daniel Beltrame and Robert Bajic have both re-signed with the club for the coming year.
The club confirmed the re-signings as Adelaide United FC looks to shore up its defensive unit by securing the two keepers that have stood between the posts for The Reds since the Hyundai A-League began.
South Australian born Bajic and Beltrame enjoyed a successful 2006/07 and will be looking to continue their form into Season 3.
Having impressed during the 2006 Pre Season Cup, Bajic was Adelaide United’s shot stopper for the first 15 rounds of the 2006/07 Hyundai A-League season before being suspended against Melbourne Victory.
Beltrame then took on where Bajic left off with a number of fine performances leading up to and during the finals series.
Beginning his career with Adelaide United FC at the age of 26, Bajic’s talent was recognized later than most.
However, his commitment to his trade has made Bajic one of the most improved keepers in the country, and therefore he has been rewarded with another twelve month contract.
“It’s really good to be on board for another year. The team came up a bit short last season and it will be great to be able to hopefully help the team go a step further in my fourth year with the club,” Bajic said.
Beltrame showed his credentials when he was the hero in Adelaide United’s preliminary final win over the Newcastle Jets, making consecutive saves in the penalty shootout.
The big framed keeper who has made a combined 95 saves in the two A-League seasons is, like Bajic, hoping to see his and the club’s form thrive in the year to follow.
“I’m delighted to be signing with Adelaide United again because I think the club is heading in the right direction and I’m honoured to be playing for the top team in Australia,” Beltrame said.
“I felt like I was starting to hit my peak towards the end of last season and I’m hoping to win the championship this season.”
Evidence of the high regard that both keepers are held under at Adelaide United is demonstrated with them sharing the load in the club’s AFC Champions League campaign, which continues on Wednesday in Korea against Seongnam Ilhwa.
