Midfielder Diego is the latest to join the growing list of players heading for the treatment room after Daniel Beltrame was ruled out earlier this week with a serious quadricep injury.

The Brazilian is only expected to be out for a week however with a groin problem sustained in training on Wednesday while Jonas Salley returns after missing last week with a knee complaint.

Also coming into the side is new signing Eugene Galekovic though Vidmar is uncertain whether the former Melbourne Victory keeper would start the match ahead of Robert Baijic.

“I will make that decision after today’s training. We brought Eugene in for a specific reason so we’ll see how he pulls up and make a decision from there,” said Vidmar.

“I’m fifty, fifty. Half of me says give Robbie a chance and the other half says we’ve got Galekovic for a reason.”

Even with a decimated squad, Vidmar says the mood in the camp is positive with the side coming off two successive 4-1 wins at home.

“It’s my job and the players job to keep their feet on the ground. Everyone’s pretty level headed, the group is really good at the moment, the harmony is fantastic,” said Vidmar

“I think when you get that sort of unity you’re always a good chance of winning games.”

Striker Dez Giraldi who finally scored his first goal for the club against Wellington on Sunday echoed the thoughts of his coach.

“We’ve definitely got our feet on the ground," he said. "That’s something Viddie installed in us from day one. No game is an easy game.”

Queensland Roar are unbeaten in their last four matches and go to Hindmarsh Stadium knowing they managed a 0-1 win in their last A-League visit.

Former Socceroo Danny Tiatto - who was involved in a controversial tackle on Richie Alagich the last time the sides met - will be missing with a groin strain, as will Marcinho.

But influential midfielder Matt McKay has recovered in time to make the flight to Adelaide and Massimo Murdocca will be looking to force his way back into the starting eleven.

In six previous meetings Adelaide United has won three, drawn two and lost one with an even split of a win, a draw and a loss at Hindmarsh Stadium.

With a total of eight bookings and a red card for Roar captain Craig Moore the last time they met in round one, there are plenty of old scores to settle after kick off.

“We had a great tussle with them in round one and I’m expecting much the same,” said the Reds coach.

“They’re a very good side especially going forward. They’re a quick side and have a lot of experience on the park.”
