ADELAIDE United have agreed to allow homesick striker Robert Younis to return to Sydney after he requested a move back.
Currently in Sydney on loan to his former club APIA Leichhardt Tigers, Younis told United he wanted to be released by the Reds when the loan period ended in May.
Initially coming to Adelaide from the NSW Premier League club back in July last year, Adelaide United and Younis have now come to a mutual agreement that will see the 2008 NSW Premier League leading goal scorer remain in Sydney.
Younis' Adelaide United contract will effectively be terminated once the transfer window opens for the NSW Premier League.
Adelaide United Football Director Michael Valkanis said the club had accepted Younis' plea to relocate back to Sydney and that the club appreciated the 23 year old's reasons behind his request to leave.
"Robert asked to be released in order to be closer to his family and friends, and also with a desire to get more time on the field," Valkanis said.
"We came to a mutual agreement which allows him to do this and we wish him all the best with his football career and whatever he chooses to do in the future."
Younis managed a total of 17 appearances for Adelaide United's senior team (12 in the Hyundai A-League), while he also made five appearances and scored three goals for The Reds' Youth Team.
Adelaide United's squad is now at 16 following Younis' departure, Coach Aurelio Vidmar already on the search for strikers after the retirement of experienced marksman Paul Agostino at the end of last season.
