ADELAIDE United have announced the signing of former Tottenham Hotspur and PSV Eindhoven midfielder Spase Dilevski to a one-year deal.
The former Athens Olympian has A-League experience after making 33 appearances for Brisbane Roar from 2005 to 2007 before jetting off to Romania where he was recently released by Universitatea Craiova.
The versatile 25-year-old, who can play as a defensive midfielder or full-back, was hotly pursued by a number of A-League clubs following his departure from Craiova but opted to sign with the Reds.
Adelaide chairman Greg Griffin was delighted to secure Dilevski, who was been capped at all youth international age groups.
"One of the main reasons he wanted to return is because he wants to be in the Socceroos shop window in front of coach Holger Osieck," Griffin told the Adelaide Advertiser.
"He can play in a number of positions in defence in midfield, on the wings and he's only 25 years old.
"He came to Adelaide to sign the contract and we're delighted to have him on board in time for pre-season training on May 9."
Melbourne-born Dilevski's signing eases the departure of midfielder Adam Hughes who has been released by the Reds.
