The former Hindmarsh captain is confident Aurelio Vidmar's men can complete the job tonight against Bunyodkor and advance to the final of the Asian Champions League and says it will do more than bring smiles to the faces of those in South Australia.

He told au.fourfourtwo.com today: "People have talked and asked how big a game this is for Adelaide United. The word is massive, not just for Adelaide but also for football here.

"Some people have said it will be as big as us getting to the World Cup (Ross's brother John scored the decisive penalty to take the Socceroos to Germany in 2006). I'm not sure but there's no doubt it's very, very significant.

"I'm confident Adelaide will reach the final and then you're looking at a final, a big television audience and a place at the club world championship.

"People already know what's going on here and this country has credibility in the game.

"But reaching a Champions League final will get us further attention and I believe it will then lead to even bigger and better players wanting to come here and play their football."

Aloisi also believes the days of Australian players being forced to trial in order to prove their worth abroad are also coming to an end.

He said: "People are going to look at our players, and already are, and they will be signed up. Once it seemed to be the norm that players, with a few rare exceptions, had to trial in Europe, but hopefully we are seeing that change.

"So an Adelaide win tonight, or at least getting the result they need, is not only massive for them but massive for everyone else."
