ADELAIDE United midfielder Paul Reid is free to line up against Wellington Phoenix at Hindmarsh Stadium on Saturday night after Football Federation Australia rescinded his red card.
The match review panel's decision to expunge Reid's red card and one-match suspension came after the Reds lodged an obvious error application with FFA on Thursday.
Reid received a straight red card from referee Chris Beath in the 80th minute of the Reds' match with Gold Coast United at Skilled Park on Wednesday night following a collision with Gold Coast defender John Curtis.
Curtis was carried off the field with a neck brace, prompting Beath to give Reid his marching orders despite waiting for at least five minutes to do so.
Reds coach Rini Coolen said post match the card should never have been issued and speculated that Gold Coast coach Miron Bleiberg's spat with Melbourne Victory over their physical style could have held some influence over the decision.
It's the second time the Reds have had a red card rescinded this season.
But the MRP was much tougher on Newcastle's Marcello Fiorentini, who was handed a two-match ban for kicking out at Melbourne Victory's Marvin Angulo on Wednesday night.
The Jets have until noon on Friday to decide whether they will appeal the decision.
