Fabiano, 30, was recruited to Victory from Thai Premier League team Chonburi FC and scored six goals in 30 A-League appearances for the club.

Earlier today, the Brazilian was announced by Thai club Bangkok Glass as their latest acquisition after failing to cement a regular spot at the champions.

"He was a fantastic player who added a lot to our squad but it shows you the quality and depth that Melbourne Victory have. He was great to have around the club and we all enjoyed playing with him," Berger told au.fourfourtwo.com today.

"It just goes to show the competition for places in the squad, when everyone's fit, it's really fierce, which is a healthy thing.

"Apart from the weekend injuries, it's good to see we're close to full strength and you can see that from the 11 v 11 games we have at training. It only benefit us."

With injury replacement for Billy Celeski, Costa Rican Marvin Angulo, ineligible for selection till early January - despite joining the club two months ago - Victory will hope there are no further additions to their injury list.

On that front, defender Matthew Kemp remains in doubt for Friday night's match against Wellington Phoenix after suffering a groin injury in last week's win over Gold Coast United.

And Berger is out for four to six weeks with a grade two hamstring tear while the same length of time on the sidelines is expected for Grant Brebner, who's recovering from a lateral ligament tear.

However, on a positive note, Berger is still on a high after the weekend's game against Jason Culina's Gold Coast at the reconfigured Etihad stadium.

The atmosphere generated was one of the best ever in the history of the competition - all the more praiseworthy given there were only just over 20,000 fans in the house.

"The players were talking about it straight after the game and even after the warm up we noticed such a big difference having it close in," said Berger.

"When you get on a roll they love to see attacking football and it drives you on forward. It's great to play in front of them and they are like our 12th man."
