Coolen, who took over at the helm at Hindmarsh on the eve of the new campaign, is finally putting his stamp on the side and he was delighted to see his players produce a fighting win after trailing to Isaka Cernak's eighth minute goal.

"After that goal we didn't drop our heads and for the next 70 minutes we were the better team," Coolen said.

Marcos Flores levelled with a spectacular volley in the first-half, before two goals in a short period from Lucas Pantelis' deflected shot - which went down as a Brett Studman own goal - and Daniel Mullen's header.

In the end, though, the Reds were forced to hold on as the Fury pressed for an equaliser after David Williams' late goal.

Coolen added: "In the last 20 minutes we weren't happy, we made it difficult and they scored a goal.

"Three weeks ago we lost points but we didn't do it now, the character of the boys was fantastic and we just need to work on that last 20 minutes."

Coolen continued he was happy to see his side score another three goals, making it six in their past two matches after their woes in attack last season.

"We played good football, we scored three goals in an away game, I'm happy with the win and the way they played today," he said.

Reds goalscorer Daniel Mullen added he felt the team were slowly beginning to get used to Coolen's style of play.

"We're starting to adopt the way that he wants to play. So far it's working, we've got some speed up front," Mullen said.

"The goals are coming which is good after last year.

"Every game we've played we've been building. We've got the momentum now, we've got a bit of confidence.

"It's all starting to come together so with a few more games hopefully we can keep getting better and better."

Adelaide's next match is against struggling champions Sydney FC at the SFS next Saturday.
