Josh Risdon says the Socceroos won't be taking Thailand lightly despite the Thais being winless after found rounds of World Cup qualifiers.
Australia play Thailand in Bangkok on November 15. The War Elephants have yet to record a point in the qualifiers, losing all four of their matches.
Thailand are ranked 146th in the world, more than 100 places below the Socceroos. But defender Risdon believes the tie remains a potential banana-skin for the green and gold.
"It's funny, those kind of games are probably the toughest going away," he said.
"Those sort of away games are really hard and you can't take them lightly. It is a big game, the top three or four in the group are quite close. So every game's important."
Risdon returns to the Socceroo squad after missing recent matches against Japan, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
"I'm very happy to be back in the squad," he admitted.
"It was a goal of mine at the start of the season so I'm very happy to be heading off to Thailand and hopefully I can get some game-time.
"It would be awesome [to play]. Representing your country is what you want to do and it's a proud moment. Just to be back involved in the camp is awesome and hopefully I can get some game-time, that would be really good as well."
The right back comes back into the Australian set-up with Ryan McGowan departing. Risdon will be competing with the likes of Milso Degenek for a spot on the right of the Socceroo defence.
The Perth Glory defender, who made his international debut last year, said getting back into Socceroo contention has been one of his goals in the off-season.
"Yeah I think it has," the 24-year old said.
"Just focusing on my game is what I needed to do and just to play well and start the season off well. I think I've done that pretty well, I've still got a bit of work to do. But just happy to be back in the squad and the team's doing well as well."
