Roar coach John Aloisi has confirmed Roar will sign two more players, and potentially a third, ahead of the new season with a view to depth for the AFC Champions League.

Brisbane have lost several attacking players with Jamie Maclaren, Brandon Borrello, Tommy Oar and Thomas Broich all exiting.

Aloisi’s side have only made two signings so far this off-season, with Fahid Ben Khalfallah and Corey Gameiro added.

“We’re quite close to a couple of new players,” Aloisi said. “We’ll get another striker in, another winger, attacking players.

“We’re not that desperate to get three. We know we’ll get two for sure. We’ve still got young and experienced players, we’ve got a good mix.”

Roar have two visa spots available to use, along with a marquee position following Oar’s exit to Cypriot champions APOEL.

“We’ll get a marquee,” Aloisi said. “There’s quite a few names coming through. We’re confident we’ll be able to fill that spot.”

The former Socceroos striker refused to be drawn on any potential targets but confirmed they’d look overseas.

“There will be two imports,” Aloisi said. “There’s plenty out there, if you look hard enough and watch enough games.”

On the make-up of his squad, Aloisi said he was content, particularly after re-signing Avraam Papadopoulos, Michael Theo, Jacob Pepper, Joe Caletti and now Dane Ingham.

Broich & Maclaren have left Roar

“At the back and in the middle it’s more or less the same,” Aloisi said.

“We’ve still got that base there. Up front there will be a few new players. We’ll try and bring in as many quality players as possible.”

Aloisi also suggested the 2017-18 campaign might be a big year for emerging teenage striker Nicholas D’Agostino.
