BRISBANE Roar's home clash with Perth Glory on December 8 will be switched away from Suncorp Stadium to allow rock legends U2 to play at the venue that night.
Brisbane had been told of the possibility of the clash of dates for some time but only received confirmation from Suncorp Stadium on Friday.
The club is now working with Suncorp Stadium management on alternative arrangements for the fixture.
Roar CEO Peter McLennan said fans would be informed of an alternative venue as soon as one had been confirmed.
"Obviously we would prefer to play at our home venue, but that is not possible," McLennan said. "We have been working hard to secure an alternative venue for the fixture and we'll continue to do so.
"We are working with Suncorp Stadium management and keeping Football Federation Australia informed of our progress.
"Once an alternative has been signed off on, we will make an announcement to give our fans plenty of time to make arrangements to attend the match."
With a Bon Jovi concert to take place at Suncorp Stadium six days after the U2 concert, the playing surface will be re-laid before Brisbane's next home fixture against Gold Coast United on Boxing Day.
McLennan said he was confident the pitch would be in world class condition in time for the M1 derby match on December 26.
"With nearly two weeks between the Bon Jovi concert and the match against Gold Coast we expect to see a top quality playing surface," McLennan added.
"We are confident the ground staff at Suncorp Stadium will once again produce a playing surface which is the best in the country."
