EXCLUSIVE: Queensland Roar's backline will target Joel Griffiths to stop him inflicting last gasp misery for the sixth time in a row, admits defender Josh McCloughan.
The Johnny Warren Medal-winner seems to enjoy his encounters with Frank Farina's side and has scored in each of his last five outings in this fixture.
Four of his five goals have been netted in the dying minutes and not once in that run has he ended up on the losing side.
McCloughan, last week's goalscoring match-winner against Wellington Phoenix, says it's time to put an end to Griffiths' impressive streak and build on the victory at Westpac Stadium.
McCloughan told au.fourfourtwo.com today: "I don't think Joel is the most popular boy in Queensland. He has made a habit of scoring against us and a couple of times it's been late goals that have got them the points.
"He's a good striker and we'll need to keep alert right to the very end."
McCloughan says it is important to try and build momentum and stringing back to back results would be a platform to build on.
He said: "It's about finding that consistency and it's frustrating when it doesn't happen. Still, I think you have a league here where everyone is capable of beating everyone else."
At least an away game means the players can forget all about the so-called 'curse of Suncorp' for a week.
McCloughan sighed: "I think it gets drummed up too much (by the media) and there's no hoodoo.
"We're working hard, we want to win in front of our own supporters and as I said, find that consistency.
"If I had the answer (to the curse) I'd sell it."
