Linking up with his new team-mates for pre-season training, the former Wellington Phoenix striker said he had two major goals for when the new season gets underway.

"I want to start as many games as I can so I can repay the club for the faith they have in bringing me here," Barbarouses said.

"And obviously I want to score as many goals as possible because at the end of the day, that's my job in the team."

And a confident Barbarouses said he was certain Roar fans wouldn't have to wait long before celebrating a goal for the club's new number seven.

"I think I bring a bit of pace to the forward line and hopefully my scoring ability,' he said.

"We have a big target-man in Reinaldo and I think (fellow striker) Henrique and myself can work off him really well."

Barbarouses will be aiming for a starting berth when  Roar travel to Gold Coast United for the clubs' first game of the season.

But before he can dream of running into Skilled Park wearing the Roar colours, Barbarouses must acclimatise to South East Queensland's tropical climate.

Despite Brisbane entering the early days of winter, the Wellington native has admitted the chilly mornings are nothing more than a summer holiday.

"I know its winter but that's the scary thing. I'm not sure what to expect for summer, maybe twice as hot," Barbarouses joked.

"I'm sure I'll get used to it but it's even boiling at the moment for me.

"(But) I'm enjoying it so far and Brisbane is a great city and it's a great setup at the Roar."
