Robinson, who has ruptured his ACL, has joined Shane Stefanutto, Scott Wilson and Karl Dodd on the list of knee nightmares in Townsville.

The club's strength and conditioning coach Alan McCall admits he has never known anything like it and nor have the medical colleagues he has spoken to in recent days.

One potential explanation that will be examined is A-League pitches. All three of the club's season-ending injuries (Stefanutto, Wilson and Robinson) occurred away from Dairy Farmers Stadium.

''It's difficult to say and we'll probably never know for sure, but we'll definitely investigate  and I'll speak to some experts in the field to get their thoughts and see if that might be an issue, if there's anything else we can do. Regardless of what injury it is we look to see if there's any way we can avoid it. Is there a reason for it?," he told the Townsville Bulletin.

He also acknowledged however that it could just be down to incredibly bad luck. Fury are back in A-League action next weekend when they entertain Central Coast Mariners in Townsville.
