The 24-year-old, who moved to Eastlands on transfer deadline day from Real Madrid, has already lit up the Premier League with his flair and goals and is confident he is at the right club to realise his potential.

"I am going to be the best in the world," Robinho told Brazilian magazine Placar.

"I can do it at Manchester City. I want to be the best in the world, win the World Cup and return to Santos and win the Copa Libertadores.

"A lot of people believe that is harder here because of the team but I think it's easier as I am a regular starter. At Madrid I only started important matches.

"They (Madrid) might be the best club in the world but for me the best team is the one where you can play every game. It is no use to me being in a good side as a substitute."

Robinho added: "The welcome (at City) was great, excellent. They treated me as if I was (Diego) Maradona and that embarrassed me. I hope I can repay all that love on the field."
