Melbourne Victory winger Marco Rojas believes his team has walked the walk and stressed the depth of the squad is paying dividends as players fight for spots.
Victory has short turnarounds in its following three games beginning with Brisbane Roar on Friday night.
As a result there will be a number of rotations including the use of centre-back Nick Ansell, who has been kept out of the squad with James Donachie’s performances. He returns after Alan Baro received his fifth booking in the 2-0 win against Adelaide.
German loanee Maxi Beister has also found it difficult to break into the squad and competes with Rojas on the right-wing.
Beister has made just one start in seven games this season and did not travel to Adelaide last week.
“It’s a difficult one… the front four are playing extremely well, we’re doing really well,” Rojas said.
“Fahid (Ben Khalfallah) has come back into the squad and he’s been doing really well and is in excellent form. James has been doing extremely well, Bes has been scoring goals and I’ve been doing alright.
“It’s a hard team to get into, like I said, that’s the beauty of our team. We’ve got so many good players, especially in that front third. I’m sure he’ll get his chance because there are a lot of games coming up.

“We’ve been playing better football than the opposition and we’ve been winning the games, we had a difficult start to the season. We knew we had it in ourselves to play like we are now and it’s finally coming out and finally doing well is a credit to our team.”
Rojas has started in all 10 games he has been involved in this season, claiming nine goals and seven assists.

The Kiwi ruled out leaving the A-League during the January transfer window but admits he is still dreaming big after returning from Germany and Switzerland where he had little game time.
“It’s been good, the goals and the assists I can’t complain. The end product has been really good,” he said.
“There’s still bits of my game I’d like to improve on. In the last few games it’s been a bit disappointing. When I was over in Europe I was playing better in terms of the middle of the pitch but I didn’t have the end product.
“They always said that was a big thing in football, to have that this year is an extremely good platform to then build on and fix the other things I need to.
“I still have the dreams I had when I was younger, it didn’t work out the first time and who knows what will happen in football.
“I’m extremely happy here, I’m looking forward to the rest of the season and I want to have success with Victory and that’s my only focus at the moment.”
