The punishment was administered to the Serie A side after racist abuse targeting Milan's Mario Balotelli was heard from that section of the stadium during the side's 2-1 victory Napoli on the last day of the 2012-13 term.

Roma had initially appealed against the measures, but it was dismissed and they will also be hit with a fine of 50,000 euros.
A statement on the Italian Football Federation's website read: "The Court of Federal Justice has rejected the appeal filed by Roma and has confirmed the closure of the Curva Sud for the first home match (of the 2013-14 Serie A seaon) while also confirming a fine of 50,000 euros."
Balotelli has been the subject of several racist incidents that marred Serie A last season, including during Milan's 0-0 draw with Roma in May, when the game had to be stopped for two minutes for monkey chants aimed at the Italy international.
Meanwhile, Milan have had a 15,000 euro fine for racism during the same fixture reduced to 10,000 euros.
Juventus, who were fined 30,000 euros for racism during their fixture with Milan in April, have had their appeal passed to a tribunal.
