Socceroo Trent Sainsbury will likely be playing in Europe next season after snubbing a move to the Middle East.
FourFourTwo understands Sainsbury has just rejected a $5m a season offer with an unnamed Saudi Arabian club and wants to be in Europe next season.
The Saudi Arabian Pro League has just snapped up Matt Jurman with Al-Ittihad and there are reports Rhys Williams’ announcement with Al Qadsiah is imminent.
Sainsbury played nine games for Swiss side Grasshopper Club Zurich on loan from Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning last season.
The 26-year-old played an integral role at centre-back for the Socceroos in the 2018 World Cup, playing 90 minutes in all three games.
Sources have told FourFourTwo that two clubs from England are keen on poaching the Roo but a final decision may only be made after the World Cup final.
It was reported by Football Insider last week that Championship sides Aston Villa and Queens Park Rangers are both keen on signing the Roo.
Should either deal happen, Sainsbury could be playing with Mile Jedinak at Villa or Massimo Luongo at QPR.
