The Dutchman was obviously delighted the Reds extended their winning streak to four, saying they were the best team on the day, but conceded United have much room for improvement.

"We were the better team today but it wasn't our best game," Coolen said.

"Some players were disappointed, but we cannot forget that we won again.

"If you play bad, or not as good as last week and you still get the points and win the home games then that gives us a good feeling for the moment, but we can do better."

The Reds led 2-0 with the final whistle approaching before an embarrassing defensive mix up saw Jets substitute Sean Rooney pull a goal back right and the death and blemish United's win.

"Because of our mistakes we could have easily lost two points from this game," Coolen said.

"It didn't happen so that's good for us, but it was a tough game for us. It was better for us of course to win 2-0 instead of one goal against you.

"But we won the game which was the most important thing. So, I'm happy at the moment but we prefer a little bit better football today."

Coolen has tried to implement a attacking style that relies heavily on keeping the ball from the opposition and the Reds' coach admitted United coughed up possession too easily against the Jets.

He said United were perhaps a little too confident going into the match after three consecutive wins.

"A few moments were real good, but there were a few moments that were not up to our level," Coolen said.

"Maybe it's something that we have too much confidence, I'm happy with that though, that's not the problem.

"For me, it's good that the players play like this because they won the game, but it wasn't perfect."

Acting captain Lucas Pantelis denied United are over confident after their recent purple patch.
The diminutive midfielder admitted the mood is definitely buoyant in the Reds' camp but insisted United are still working hard to maintain pole position.

"I can guarantee you we're not over confident," he said. "We still work hard at training every session, we still work on the simple things so it's a good feeling at the moment, it's four in a row now.

"In the change rooms after the game, we're obviously happy with the win but know we can play a lot better which is a pretty good feeling.

"If you can win your games when you don't play to the best of you ability and you can win them convincingly, it's a very good thing."

"Hopefully we can learn from this game. Like Rini said, we won the game but certainly didn't play our best football."
