Just days out from tThe Reds' opening match of season five against Perth Glory, Rudan trained with United's squad at Thebarton Oval this morning after arriving from Sydney last night.

Adelaide United coach Aurelio Vidmar has been searching for another defender to complement his squad, and after Sasa Ognenovski left to play in Korea at the end of last season, Rudan would be provide an experienced and physically imposing presence to the Reds' defence.

A championship winner with Sydney FC in the first season of the Hyundai A-League, Rudan is in Adelaide for the week to check out the club and the city, which will lead to a decision by the club and the defender which will determine whether Rudan becomes the 21st player on United's roster.

Rudan admitted to being impressed by his initial feelings about the club and said joining the 2008 AFC Champions League and Hyundai A-League finalists was something he was seriously contemplating.

"They've been quite good. I had a good chat with Viddie last week and I was quite impressed with a lot of the things he had to say, which made it all the more interesting, so here I am just to have a look at the place," Rudan said after completing his first session with the club.

"I understand that it's a couple of days. Just to have a look at the place, have a run with the boys, take a better look at the city and the club and so far I've been accepted quite warmly. First impressions mean a lot to me and like I said, from the first time I spoke to Viddie, I felt wanted and welcomed and that means a lot to me."

The 33 year old has been playing with Swiss Super League club FC Vaduz, having also had a stint with Japan's Avispa Fukuoka since he left the harbour city club in 2007. While the rising profile of the Hyundai A-League has Rudan keen to return to play in Australia, he says it is still early to confirm a move to Adelaide.

He added: "I wouldn't have travelled here from Sydney if I didn't want to come here and play.

"Obviously it would be different putting on a red jersey as opposed to a blue jersey but we'll see where it takes us, it's only early days and we'll see how it unfolds."
