Mat Ryan may have spelled the end of Arsene Wenger's 21-year Arsenal career, as Brighton Hove & Albion defeated Arsenal at Amex Stadium.
Ryan was in superb form, although surprisingly endured much of the match untroubled as Arsene's side continue to slip to new lows in the Premier League.
Brighton took the lead early before adding another through Glenn Murray, but Ryan could do nothing as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was gifted an effort directly in front to make it 2-1.
It proved to be little-consolation for Arsenal, as the Gunners piled on the pressure in the second half to no avail. Ryan made one terrific save at the mid-way point of the second half, showing fantastic reflexes to deny Mesut Ozil at his near post.
The win leaves Arsenal in sixth - but with seventh-placed Burnley suddenly seeming a top-six candidate - while Brighton and coach Chris Hughton's Premier League status is beginning to seem fairly secure.
The long-term ramification on Wenger's future, however, will be the main talking point, as his eighth loss in all-competitions this season could spell the end of the Premier League's longest managerial reign.
