Tributes have flooded in on social media for Marco Kurz after the German coach led Adelaide United to an unlikely semi-final with a thrilling 1-0 win over Melbourne City.
Ben Halloran did the damage on the 118th minute for Kurz's side after a tense, enduring match threatened penalties in front of a packed Hindmarsh Stadium.
Ultimately it was a just reward for Kurz, who after taking out the FFA Cup at the beginning of the season led an under-funded United side to an unlikely top-four berth.
The resulting home final paid dividends, and Adelaide now have a shot at making history next week against Perth Glory.
Great credit to Marco Kurz - sacked (or not renewed, take your pick) in March & makes an @ALeague semi-final in May. I'm not passing judgement on the decision but many could have thrown toys out of the cot. Strikes me a really ripping bloke #ADLvMCY @UnitedAdelaide

Of course, while the tributes poured in for Kurz, not everyone was excited...

If AUFC wins in Perth, let's hope Marco Kurz celebrates with Simeone.

For now, it's just the standard stuff.#ADLvMCY pic.twitter.com/mGG9jbwGkC
Although exactly what determines a positive, especially for Melbourne City fans, remains subjective.
