Fulham manager Lawrie Sanchez insists he is taking the Carling Cup "very seriously" even though his priority is improving the club's Premier League position and avoiding last season's traumatic battle against relegation.
The Cottagers, who battled through the second round against League Two Shrewsbury with a 1-0 victory last month, take on Bolton in the third round on Wednesday.
Sanchez's team beat Wanderers 2-1 at Craven Cottage on August 15 for their only league win this season.
"Of course we will field a strong side again - a very strong side," said the manager.
"We have a strong squad now with quality players on the bench that can come on and improve our performance.
"We need to get through this tie because that will also give us a boost for going to Chelsea in the league next Saturday.
"I was looking forward to that and the chance to break Jose Mourinho's long unbeaten home record but, of course, that's gone out of window now. Knowing our lot, though, we would have done it.
"Maybe it is a good time to be playing Chelsea, I don't know, but the way we are going anything can happen.
"It depends how you look at it. We are second top scorers in the Premier League but also the second-worse for conceding goals.
"But we've signed a lot of new players and I know we have more quality now with this squad which will come through.
"I would like to get to a stage where results dictate I field the same team week in, week out and only make changes for injuries or an individual off form."
