Brazilian giants Santos have confirmed their interest in signing Manchester City forward Robinho but admit a deal appears unlikely.
Robinho, 25, left Santos to join Real Madrid in 2005, and moved on to Eastlands in a £32.5million transfer last summer.
Robinho and his agent have denied a return to Santos is on the cards, but club president Marcelo Teixeira has not given up hope.
"We are in permanent contact with Robinho," Teixeira told GloboEsporte.com.
"He will be in [the city of] Santos for 25 days before going back to England.
"The situation is difficult in a financial aspect. The will of both parties is not enough.
"If the club [Manchester City] fulfil their promise of signing big players, Robinho will stay there because he dreams of being chosen the world's best player.
"If that does not happen, I think Santos will have the chance to bring the player back."
