SASA Ognenovski has capped his extraordinary club season for Seongnam Ilhwa by being named in the final five nominees for the 2010 AFC Player of the Year award.
The centre back, who made his Socceroos debut against Egypt in Cairo on Wednesday, is the only player nominated who is not from a club in the Middle East.
Zob Ahan's Farshid Talebi, Esteghlal striker Farhad Majidi, Al Qadsia's Bader Al Mutawa and Al Riffa's Husain Salman are the other nominees for the award which will be announced at a gala event held at the Sunway Hotel Resort and Spa on November 24, in Kuala Lumpur.
Ognenovski led Seongnam Ilhwa to the AFC Champions League title against Zob Ahan last Saturday's scoring the first goal in a 3-1 win.
The award nominees had to be able to attend the awards night, ruling out the best Asian talent currently playing in Europe, including Tim Cahill.
