ASIAROOS WRAP: Defender Sasa Ognenovski saw red in Seongnam Ilhwa's 1-0 AFC Champions League victory over Joel Griffiths's Beijing Guoan in Group E on Wednesday evening.
Ognenovski, 30, was sent off after picking up his second yellow card late in the contest after a reckless foul on Beijing's Valdo.
But the Koreans still were triumphant thanks to Mauricio Molina's 74th minute free-kick, which sees them secure their qualification for the next round with four wins from four matches so far.
Molina's curling goal came after Beijing's Zhang Yonghai handballed outside the box and was sent off.
But the hosts had the better of the chances for the most part at the Workers Stadium with Joel Griffiths, who put in a full shift for Guoan, going close early in the second-half.
In Group A, forgotten Socceroo Michael Beauchamp played a full game for UAE side Al Jazira, as they lost 2-0 to Saudi Arabians Al Ahly. Al Jazira have just one point from four matches.
In Japan's Nabisco Cup, Joshua Kennedy scored the opening goal in Nagoya Grampus's 2-2 draw at FC Tokyo.
Kennedy, who played a full game, picked up a booking in the match, which ended level after Tokyo equalized late.
The big Socceroos striker has scored three goals in four games this campaign for Nagoya.
Elsewhere, Matthew Spiranovic made his official debut for Urawa Reds, putting in a full shift in their 1-1 draw with Jubilo Iwata, while Eddy Bosnar was absent as Shimizu S-Pulse beat Shonan Bellmare 2-0.
Finally over in Europe, in Greece's Beta Ethniki, Nathan Burns put in a full shift as promotion-chasing AO Kerkyra lost 1-0 to Panserraikos.
