EGYPT

Essam El Hadary - 8

Broke the record for the oldest player to feature at a World Cup at the age of 45. Saved Al-Muwallad's penalty onto the post in a heroic story for the ages.

Ahmed Fathi - 6

Struggled with his crosses and made some poor decisions in the first half. Gave away a penalty with a handball but had his blushes spared by his keeper.

Ali Gabr - 6.5

Saudi probed the Egypt box for the entire match but Gabr had a comfortable match in central defence. A dubious decision meant Saudi Arabia earned another spot kick for which they levelled the match with.

Ahmed Hegazy - 7

Not too much pressure from the Saudi's as Hegazy had a steady match, contrary to the first two group games.

Mohammed Abdelshafy - 6

Abdelshafy chose his moments to go forward on the counter. He often chose to sit back and wait for a counter press from the Saudis when Egypt lost the ball.

Tarek Hamed - 6

Saudi Arabia held onto the ball for virtually the entire match as Egypt invited pressure. When they did have the ball Hamed was quick and accurate with his passing.

Mohammed Elneny - 5

Not able to cement a dominating midfield role as Egypt sat back on the counter-attack. His passing was exceptional as he acted as a fifth centre-back.

Mohammed Salah - 7

Totally against the run of play Salah pierced the Saudi centre-backs and chipped Mosailem to open the scoring. Should have made it two after going one-on-one with Mosailem only to chip it wide.

Abdalla Said - 6.5

A few glimpses of his pace, although he struggled when he was forced to the byline. An exceptional ball over the top that was perfectly weighted for Salah to get on the end and lob the keeper for 1-nil.
