Australia meet New Zealand and Serbia in two friendlies in Adelaide and Melbourne respectively next month.

Schwarzer, 38, has made 30 appearances in all competitions for Fulham this English season but isn't looking to be rested from Australia's upcoming games.

"My hand is up for both games," Schwarzer told The Weekend Australian.

"As far as I am concerned, you have to earn the right (to play for your country). I don't want to give anyone else an opportunity.

"Of course, if the manager (Holger Osieck) says otherwise, then that is his decision and I will go by that 100 per cent. But I definitely want to play both games."

Schwarzer is Australia's most capped player ever with 89 appearances in the green and gold.

The next most capped goalkeeper of the current brigade of Australians is Eugene Galekovic with four caps, while England-based duo Brad Jones and Adam Federici both have appeared for the Socceroos just three times.

There's clearly little international experience behind Schwarzer in the goalkeeping department which is a worry looking ahead to the 2014 World Cup but the veteran hasn't ruled himself out of competing in Brazil.

"I am feeling great. Why not?" Schwarzer said.

"I don't want to jinx myself and I am not naive because a lot of things can change very quickly between now and then, especially physically and form wise. I have learned to be a bit more cautious.

"But I would be lying if I said Brazil isn't part of my plans."

Schwarzer's form at club level has been solid for the Cottagers this term, although he didn't have his best day against Liverpool in a recent 5-2 defeat where he made a howler from a Dirk Kuyt effort.

The Aussie, though, said it was a rare bad game and hardly representative of a decline in form.

"Take out the Liverpool game and it has all been good," he said.

"I don't remember ever playing as badly as I did that day against Liverpool. But those things happen.

“I have been lucky in that that is the first bad game I have had for Fulham and that's not bad going in three years."
