The Everton player has scored in his last three games for his country, his clinching goal in the 3-1 win over Ukraine at Hampden on Saturday coming after strikes against France and Lithuania.

McFadden, looking for the victory over Georgia in Tbilisi tonight that will take the Scots to within one point of guaranteeing qualification, said: "We know that if we don't win it won't be a massive disaster.

"But we want to win every game, we have a good record so far and we want to make it as easy as possible, and if we win this game it sets us up nicely for the Italy game.

"We don't have any fear but there is never an easy game and this will probably be the toughest test yet.

"It's a game that we are expected to win but it's not an easy place to come to.

"We have a great chance of winning but that's not to say that we will."

Scotland could even qualify tonight, if Lithuania deny France victory in Nantes, although Alex McLeish's men are not anticipating that to happen.

Scotland have posted six successive victories for the first time since 1949, and McFadden is refusing to contemplate the campaign blowing up in the last two games.

He said: "I have not thought about that but it might happen.

"At the moment, we will enjoy it and let's see where it takes us.

"I don't know how much more we can give. If we can continue the way we have been then we don't need any extra but I'm sure we will be ready to push on again.

"We are all looking forward to it, it's a big game and a big challenge.

"Every time you get a win your confidence grows and every time you score it grows again.

"I have always been fairly confident and everyone is at their best when they are confident so hopefully I can grow more confident."
