ADELAIDE United may have released four players today but the only place Scott Jamieson is going is up, predicts Socceroos boss Pim Verbeek.
Jamieson has been one of the hits of the season after returning to Australia from Europe.
His performances for the Reds, both in the A-League and the Asian Champions League have clearly caught the eye of the national coach and in a game where quality left-sided players are not always in abundance, Verbeek is hoping Jamieson can develop into a fully-fledged international.
Verbeek, upon announcing his squad for the Indonesia clash, said of Jamieson: "Hopefully he will be the best left-footed player, left fullback or even left midfield player for Australia in the future.
"He took the risk to come back to Australia from Europe to the A-League and in all the games we've seen he's always at his best.
"We really like him, good football player, good mentality, so young and already so talented."
Jamieson joins fellow Reds Eugene Galekovic, Paul Reid and Robbie Cornthwaite in Verbeek's squad for the Asian Cup qualifier.
“I think it’s a great reward for the fantastic seasons and excellent performances that they’ve all been able to produce, and I’m sure I can speak on behalf of everyone at Adelaide United in wishing them all the best for the game against Indonesia," said United coach Aurelio Vidmar.
