Aberdeen are likely to be without Zander Diamond, who has blurred vision in an eye. Jamie Smith, Richie Byrne, Stuart Duff (all hamstring), Derek Young and Steve Lovell (both knee) also miss the game.

St Mirren striker Jim Hamilton will return having been cup-tied in midweek. A late decision will be made on defender John Potter (head), who also missed out in the Scottish Cup defeat to St Johnstone.

Well captain Paul Quinn completes his two-match suspension and will miss out - but is also nursing a hip injury. Boss Mark McGhee has no other injury worries for the Tannadice clash.

Hearts have brought Ricardas Beniusis' season-long loan to a premature end by allowing him to return to FBK Kaunas. With Christian Nade struggling to be fit because of a pelvic problem, caretaker coach Stevie Frail is short of striking options. Andy Driver (thigh) and Neil McCann (ankle) could both be out for the season, while Laryea Kingston (foot) is unlikely to be fit and Hristos Karipidis is doubtful with a knock.

On-loan Sunderland midfielder Arnau Riera is fit again and could start for Falkirk. Defender Jack Ross is in contention after recovering from injury and youngsters Kevin Moffat and Dayne Robertson could figure. Striker Michael Higdon is not yet ready to return after knee surgery and long-term absentees Tim Krul (shoulder) and Dean Holden (broken leg) remain sidelined.

Celtic midfielder Paul Hartley has recovered from illness after missing the midweek Scottish Cup quarter-final replay defeat by Aberdeen with a virus.
