Group H went down to the wire with both Colombia and Senegal needing to avoid defeat to guarantee their place in the round of 16.
Colombia were looking to recreate the energy that saw them decisively beat Poland but a combination of tight defence and quick attack saw Senegal dominate the first half.
A further blow came for Colombia in the 30th minute when a devastated James Rodriguez was subbed off and the teams headed to the break level.
The second half got off to a slow start but quick transitions saw both teams create chances as the game liven up.
Yerry Mina used every bit of his height to bury a header and put his team in front in the 74th minute.
Despite desperate attacks from Senegal, this goal would prove the difference and end their World Cup campaign.
Colombia
David Ospina- 8
Was only really tested twice but did all of the little things right to finish the game with a clean sheet.
Santiago Arias- 7
Timed his runs forward well and got the basics right at crucial times with clean touches and passes.
Davinson Sánchez- 7.5
Close defending shut down the Senegalese attack but he came dangerously close to giving away a penalty early on in the game.
Yerry Mina- 9
Took calculated risks, feinting and cutting in front of attackers to create enough room to play the ball in any direction. He stepped up when it counted with a header to put his side ahead.
Mateus Uribe- 7
May not have provided anything for the highlight reel but was always where his team needed him to be in the centre of the park.
