Group H went down to the wire with both Colombia and Senegal needing to avoid defeat to guarantee their place in the round of 16.
Colombia were looking to recreate the energy that saw them decisively beat Poland but a combination of tight defence and quick attack saw Senegal dominate the first half.
A further blow came for Colombia in the 30th minute when a devastated James Rodriguez was subbed off and the teams headed to the break level.
The second half got off to a slow start but quick transitions saw both teams create chances as the game liven up.
Yerry Mina used every bit of his height to bury a header and put his team in front in the 74th minute.
Despite desperate attacks from Senegal, this goal would prove the difference and end their World Cup campaign.
Colombia
David Ospina- 8
Was only really tested twice but did all of the little things right to finish the game with a clean sheet.
Santiago Arias- 7
Timed his runs forward well and got the basics right at crucial times with clean touches and passes.
Davinson Sánchez- 7.5
Close defending shut down the Senegalese attack but he came dangerously close to giving away a penalty early on in the game.
Yerry Mina- 9
Took calculated risks, feinting and cutting in front of attackers to create enough room to play the ball in any direction. He stepped up when it counted with a header to put his side ahead.
Mateus Uribe- 7
May not have provided anything for the highlight reel but was always where his team needed him to be in the centre of the park.
Carlos Sanchez- 8.5
Played a very defensive role and used his physicality to muscle the Senegalese attackers off the ball.

Johan Mojica- 8
Mojica read the game well, staying wide to stretch the field and direct his run in and behind the defence.
Juan Cuadrado- 6
Was well covered by the defence and was forced to make snap decisions on the ball that often resulted in cheap turnovers.
James Rodriguez- 4
Had hardly any time on the ball and was subbed off in the 30th minute.

Juan Quintero- 9
Again Quintero was a star for Colombia constantly working both on and off the ball, alternatively feeding it forward and dropping back to play off his central defenders.
Radamel Falcao- 6.5
Seemed unable to find his usual rhythm, failing to bring his trademark creative flair to attack. Was replaced with just minutes to go.
Subs
Luis Muriel - 8
Had the tough task of replacing Rodriquez but didn’t let the pressure get to him, remaining calm on the ball and working his way in and around the defence.
Jefferson Lerma- 5
Was very quiet during his stint on the field.
Miguel Borja- N/A
Only saw five minutes of action.
Senegal
Khadim N’Diaye- 7
Actively attacked the set-pieces, punching away a free-kick and a corner in the space of minutes and was quick off his line.
Youssouf Sabaly - 8
Not just strong in the air but smart, sending the ball out to give his teammates time to get back into position after Colombia's goal kicks.
Kalidou Koulibaly- 7.5
Confidence on the ball helped him push up even when under direct pressure.
Salif Sane- 7
Did well to track Muriel’s runs and not dive in, holding the attack up so Senegal could get bodies behind the ball.

Lamine Gassama- 6
An example of solid defending, Lamine didn’t bother with anything too fancy simply dealing with threats as they came and quickly returning the ball up field.
Ismaila Sarr - 7
Good control allowed him to make the most of lofted passes with a strong first touch that allowed him to immediately stride forward.
Cheikhou Kouyate- 9
Determination to help his team get back in numbers saw Kouyate often end up in exactly the right spot to cut out loose balls. He was very impressive in midfield.
Idrissa Gana Gueye- 6
Attempted to work the ball through the midfield but was let down by heavy touches.
Keite Balde- 6
Didn’t have a major impact on the game and was replaced with ten minutes to go.

Mbaye Niang – 5.5
Made promising runs up front but was let down by ineffective free-kicks that went easily to the keeper.
Sadio Mane - 7.5
Saw much more of the ball than in the previous group games, but was so tightly marked he was unable to turn this possession into any real opportunities.
Subs
Moussa Wague- 5.5
Came on for an injured Sabaly just in time to see his team concede. Recovered to deal with threats from the right side.
Pape Moussa Konate- 5.5
Came on to increase Senegal’s strike power but didn’t get the time on the ball he needed to threaten.
Diafra Sakho- N/A
Was given the tough job of trying to save Senegal with only a few minutes to go.
