Seongnam, seven-time South Korea champions, took a two-goal lead in the first half through a brace from Jo Jae-cheol after nine and 23 minutes respectively.

Suwon hit back with 17 minutes remaining thanks to Ha Tae-gyun but the visitors held on for the three points.

"This is a great three points for us," said Seongnam boss Shin Tae-young. "It is always a tough game at Suwon so we are very happy to get the win."

Suwon coach Cha Bum-kun cut a forlorn figure.

"I am sorry for the fans that we lost a game that we needed to win,' said the former South Korea coach. "But we did our best and it was a tough game for us."

Meanwhile, Jeonbuk Motors came back from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 with defending Asian Champions League holders Pohang Steelers.

The visitors took the lead after 20 minutes thanks to full-back Choi Soon-ho but Pohang were leading 3-1 by the break following a brace from Kim Jae-sung and a goal just before half-time from Hwang Jae-won.

Pohang were heading for a vital win until two goals in the last five minutes gave Jeonbuk a vital point.

Lee Dong-guk grabbed his fifth goal in four games with four minutes remaining before Eninho eqaulised from the spot in stoppage time.
