Fringe Socceroo Craig Goodwin is a free agent after mutually agreeing to prematurely end his contract with Dutch Eredivisie club Sparta Rotterdam.
The 26-year-old winger, who has three Socceroos caps, struggled for impact in the second half of the season.
Despite that, only last month Goodwin had extended his contract with Sparta until 2019, but the deal has now been terminated immediately.
Goodwin will leave Sparta with one league game to play, before they head into the relegation play-offs.
The former Adelaide United man had saved Sparta from relegation on the final day of the 2016-17 season with a goal and two assists in a decisive 3-1 win at Go Ahead Eagles.
However Goodwin struggled for game-time in 2017-18, making 13 starts and eight appearances off the bench, netting two goals in all competitions.
In 2016-17, following his move from Adelaide, Goodwin made 30 appearances in all competitions and scored four goals.
Sparta technical director Henk van Stee said in a club statement: "It is best for both the club and the player not to continue together.
"We wish him every success in the rest of his career."
Goodwin announced the news via Instagram but said he had "made no decisions on my next move".
