Mark Schwarzer (GK) - 7 - He made a small error in first half, but was otherwise as solid as he usually is. Has now gone seven qualifying matches without conceding a goal, which is an extraordinary effort.

Mark Milligan - 6 - Was given his chance in the centre of defence and did a serviceable job. Nothing for Lucas Neill or Craig Moore to get concerned about though. He has 12 months to prove himself a genuine back-up defensive option in the World Cup. Was booked in the 63rd minute.

David Carney - 7 - Didn't get forward as much as he should have in the first half, but produced a much better second half. Delivered the long ball which set up first goal and even had a couple of shots himself. Is a better player when he doesn't curtail his natural attacking instincts and that showed when he set up Culina's rebounded shot and then followed it in with an easy tap in for his second international goal.

Jason Culina - 6 - Did a good job back in the heart of midfield, distributing well and disrupting Bahrain's build-up play. He thrives with the responsibility of being the man who controls the play and while this wasn't his best game, he did set up the second goal with a spectacular bicycle kick.

Chris Coyne - 6 - Came into the game under a fitness cloud and with a new look defensive set-up to work with. Worked very hard and snuffed out most of Bahrain's attacking chances. Even had a shot on goal knocked away in the second half. He departed midway through the second half.

Mile Jedinak - 5 - Was given his chance by Verbeek, but didn't really make the most of it. Copped a lot of attention from the referee and eventually got a yellow card. Departed the field on 63 minutes and questions still remain about his ability at this level.

Luke Wilkshire - 6 - A nice solid return to the team, but did make a few uncharacteristic errors which allowed the Bahrainis a few attacking chances. He's had better days in the green and gold, but didn't do too much harm to his reputation. Did get a late booking.

Harry Kewell - 8 - At the heart of most of Australia's attacking moves. He relishes the freedom of his role as floating winger/attacker who can provide skill and run on the ball. He set up the first goal and played his part in several other chances. Another excellent performance from the darling of Australian football, and he will be all-important if he is in the same sort of form in 12 months' time.

Brett Holman - 4 - Did not want for lack of involvement and had several excellent chances to score including two first half shots which were too tame to test out the Bahrain keeper. Holman is always busy, but the results don't follow and having been given so many chances of late, he still hasn't proven he is up to it.

Mile Sterjovski - 7 - Sterjovski may be Australia's most underrated attacking option. He's hard working and has strength in the air and on the ground. He was there to put away the first goal, albeit from a defensive mistake, but you can't doubt his poise under pressure.

Scott McDonald - 5 - McDonald's international drought rolls on, and a shocking miss in the first half did him no favours in his battle to become a regular starter. To be fair, he's not suited to a lone striker role and often found himself isolated, but on a couple of other occasions, he chose the wrong option costing Australia chances to score.

Subs:
Nick Carle - 4 - Had few chances having played just seven or eight minutes

Vince Grella - 5 - Came on and looked untroubled for the final 27 minutes he was on the park.

Jade North - 5 - Actually got himself involved in an attacking move late in the game, almost setting up Harry Kewell for a goal. Otherwise had very little to do.
