It will be the first time the two nations have clashed at senior men's level and Socceroos coach Holger Osieck believes the friendly against 144th-ranked Lebanon will be perfect preparation.

“This match against Lebanon will be an ideal opportunity for us to face quality opposition who play a similar style of football to our next opponents in the FIFA World Cup Asian qualifiers, Jordan," he said.

“The other positive is that Beirut is in a similar region and time zone to Amman and the travel to Jordan following the match is short.

“We will definitely be using this match against Lebanon to test the level of our players before we meet Jordan.”

The Socceroos are currently in third position of Group B with draws against Oman (0-0) and Japan (1-1) in their opening two matches of the final round of the 2014 World Cup Qualifiers.

Lebanon are in fifth place of Group A after losses to Qatar (0-1) and Korea Republic (0-3) and a draw against Uzbekistan.
