Urawa Reds midfielder Takahito Soma has left the J.League club after his contract expired, the club announced today.
The former Asian champions were hoping to keep the 27-year-old but failed to agree terms with Soma who has indicated a strong desire to play abroad.
Soma has not been included in Urawa's 29-man squad for the 2009 season but it is unclear where he will play this year.
Urawa also saw forward Yuichiro Nagai depart for J.League rivals Shimizu S-Pulse earlier this month and have yet to make any major signings for the new season.
They began pre-season training on Monday under new German manager Volker Finke, who was formerly in charge of Bundesliga side Freiburg.
