The coach had blamed 'politics' at the club for the humiliating defeat at the hands Melbourne Victory and was none too complimentary about his home town in the process.

However, once the conference was over it appears Vidmar cooled down somewhat with a statement issued.

In it, the coach said: "In tonight's press conference immediately after our Melbourne Victory match, I regrettably said some things in the heat of the moment.

"I would like to apologise to the city and people of Adelaide for the discouraging comments I made. I grew up in Adelaide and I love the city and people. We have fantastic fans and support for the club and my comments were out of order for a club and city I care so much about.

"I encourage all of our fantastic supporters to stick with us as we take on Queensland Roar in next Saturday's Preliminary Final and we'll do our best to get to the Grand Final in a fortnight against Melbourne, and hope to make the whole of South Australia and city of Adelaide proud of what we are trying to achieve for this great club."

United then released a further statement to say that the issues of the past 24 hours had been resolved this afternoon (Sunday).

Club owners Nick Bianco and Dario Fontanarosa, Chairman Mel Patzwald, CEO Sam Ciccarello and Vidmar sat down to discuss The Reds coach's outburst at the post match media conference after the game against Melbourne Victory last night.

After almost two hours behind closed doors, the outcome of the meeting was entirely positive, with Patzwald declaring Vidmar has the unconditional support of the Adelaide United Football Club.

"We're delighted with the outcome of the meeting. We're all heading forward in the same direction, Aurelio has the unconditional support of everybody who was at that meeting and we're just looking forward to a terrific game on Saturday," Patzwald said.

Vidmar confronted the awaiting media after the meeting and was also pleased with the outcome, his focus now on the club's Preliminary Final against the Queensland Roar at Hindmarsh Stadium on Saturday.

Vidmar said: "We just cleared the air. There were a few issues we needed to solve and it was a really positive meeting.

"Everyone said exactly what they thought and everyone was really pleased with the outcome. All we're doing now is focusing on the Preliminary Final on Saturday."

Vidmar was apologetic for his comments after an extremely disappointing result against Melbourne in the Major Semi Final at the Telstra Dome and he urges all Reds supporters to get behind the club and turn out in their numbers to support the team against the Roar on Saturday.

"In the light of my comments, I certainly meant no disrespect to the people and city of Adelaide so I want to make that extremely clear," Vidmar said.
